Iowa Talking Points — Rob Sand, Democratic Candidate, Governor of Iowa

Rob Sand is the Democratic nominee for Governor of Iowa, running against Republican Zach Lahn in what forecasters rate as a toss-up race. Sand has served as Iowa State Auditor since 2019 — the only Democrat currently holding statewide office in Iowa — winning election in 2018 by defeating the incumbent and winning reelection in 2022. A Decorah native, Sand graduated from Brown University and earned his law degree from the University of Iowa. Before entering public office, he worked as an Assistant Attorney General prosecuting public corruption and white-collar crime. His gubernatorial campaign focuses on fully funded public schools, affordable healthcare, clean water, and addressing Iowa's nearly $1.4 billion budget deficit.
