Iowa Talking Points — Rick Stewart, Libertarian Candidate, Iowa's 2nd Congressional District

Rick Stewart of Cedar Rapids is the Libertarian candidate for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District, running in an open seat race as Republican Ashley Hinson pursues a bid for U.S. Senate. Stewart is running against Republican Joe Mitchell and Democrat Lindsay James. A veteran of Iowa politics, Stewart previously ran as the Libertarian candidate for governor in 2022, for U.S. Senate in 2020, and for Iowa secretary of agriculture in 2018.

His platform centers on eliminating income taxes, replacing government assistance programs with a universal basic income funded by redirecting payroll taxes, overhauling immigration policy with a market-based green card auction system, a universal carbon tax, and eliminating nuclear weapons.
