Iowa Talking Points — Dave Bushaw, Independent Candidate, Iowa's 2nd Congressional District

Dave Bushaw is an independent candidate for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District, running in a four-way race that also includes Republican Joe Mitchell, Democrat Lindsay James, and Libertarian Rick Stewart. A 31-year-old farmer and musician from Hawkeye in northeast Iowa, Bushaw grew up in West Union and rooted himself in rural Iowa when many of his peers were leaving. He worked as a rural field organizer for Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign in 2019 and 2020, but is running as an independent because he believes both major parties have abandoned working-class Americans. His platform focuses on healthcare, workers' rights, and rebuilding rural communities. Bushaw joined Jeff Stein at Iowa Talking Points Studio to make his case for an independent movement in Iowa's most competitive congressional race.
